Bitrate

When referring to audio, bitrate is a measurement of bits each second that audio distributes. The sound quality will improve as the bitrate improves. For example, MP3 files with a bitrate of 128KBPS are more likely to sound better than a MP3 file with a bitrate of 64KBPS. However, the 128KBPS MP3 file is going to be larger in size. To help conserve space required by audio files, individuals and companies have developed bitrate converters that will convert a high bitrate file to a lower bitrate. These software programs are especially useful for users who wish to store audio files on MP3 players with limited space.
