Attributes
- An attribute is any characteristic of a file or document. When referring to an attribute in MS-DOS or Windows, the attribute is the properties of the file. For example, if the file had a read-only attribute the file can not have any changes, it can only be read. See our file attributes definition for further information about this type of attribute
- When referring to an attribute within a Word Processor, you are referring to a characteristic of a character, word, or line. For example, an underlined word has an underline attribute.
- In database management systems, an attribute is sometimes used as a synonym for field.
